Yeah, this is fun, rebooting a character I’ve barely used.
So instead what I’ll do is give a bit of Hiroko’s history instead.
Hiroko was born and raised in Japan, in Kyoto [her parents hail from Tokyo], in the Koyamakamiuchikawaracho district. She lived across the Kamokawa from the Kyoto Botanical Gardens, her favorite place to go whenever she wasn’t at school. When Hiroko turned 19, she moved out to America with the money her parents gave her for school, instead deciding to go to the US and make a name for herself. Which she did, by being a critically acclaimed author. While she knew some English from what she was taught in school, most of her knack for the language was actually taught to her by her editor, Tadashi Tanaka [played by the forever-fucking-handsome Ken Watanabe].
She dyed her hair blonde just before she went public with her first book, From the Ashes, attempting to appear more ‘American’- Which merely made her look more out of place. However, her book was a surprise hit, as was her hair change. It became a habit of hers to constantly change her look to stay ‘fresh’. Even though her English is extremely good, [thanks to Tadashi,] she prefers to stay silent, pretending to be mute and writing everything down so she can listen to others better. Hiroko is extremely blunt in her words, whether written or spoken, and has a particular fondness for American men. Mainly tall, muscular, good-looking American men. Meaning a lot of them. To her it doesn’t matter who they are- If they’re a good lay, then the more the merrier.
Basically the polar opposite of Mel.
Uh, character notes- When I write in italics for her, quoted or not, she’s writing on a sheet of paper. If her words, quoted or not, are not italicized, then she’s speaking out loud.
Her hit series Dustnote was written when she was 21, and she is now 28, working on the sixth book in the saga. She hates meeting fans yet gets tons of fanmail given to her by Tadashi.
That’s about it.
Yeah.

Protocol? Protocol?! We’re just talking, lady, this isn’t an office job or anything!
No need to shout. I haven’t written in all capital letters at you once, so you should have no reason to raise your voice at me. Besides, it is just common sense to ask someone for their name when you meet, is it not?
What. Is. Your. Name?
See, that wasn’t so hard, was it?
Hiroko Watanabe, at your service.

I am merely stating a fact. You have a name like a character in a book.
No. I have a name like… my own name, dammit. I don’t even know who you are.
You never asked, so I never provided. Isn’t that the protocol when conversing?

Your name. You pronounced it ‘Jeitchi’. Is that not how you spell it?
